"On The Road Again” Palouse backroads and byways en plein air is the title of the winter exhibit at Artisans at the Dahmen Barn in Uniontown.  The exhibit opens Thursday, January 5 and runs through February 26.   The opening reception will be held Sunday, January 8 from 1 to 3 pm.  Plein air painting is a phrase borrowed from the French equivalent meaning "open (in full) air".  It is particularly used to describe the act of painting outdoors. Six artists that have named themselves "Group Six” will display paintings of local scenery in watercolor, pastel and oil.   Group Six was originally a group of four studio painters who fell in love with Plein Air ... others saw how much fun they were having and joined them. They are not a structured group and can flex up or down in number. They enjoy painting and learning from each other.

The group travels where ever the backroads lead: Asotin, Snake River, Grand Rhonde, Clearwater River, Lapwai, Soldiers Meadow Reservoir, Mann Lake, Kelmgard Park, Troy Genesse Road, Spring Valley, Tamarack Road, Big Meadow Road, and our backyards. We also compete in local Plein Air Competitions in the Lewiston/Clarkston Valley, and Moscow's Palouse Plein Air.

Artisans at the Dahmen Barn is a non-profit creativity center in Uniontown on highway 195 in the big white barn behind the famous iron wheel fence.  The facility is fully handicap accessible and has no daily admission fee.  Winter hours are Thursday through Sunday 10 am to 4 pm through February.  Information:  www.artisanbarn.org or 509-229-3414.
