Local Habitat for Humanity Seeking Family for 2017 Home
You may know the next Habitat homeowner! Palouse Habitat for Humanity is accepting applications for the 2017 Habitat home which will be built in Potlatch.
Applications are available from the Habitat office or at the applicant meetings.
Application deadline is February 27th. Applicants are required to attend one of four informational meetings scheduled in late January and early February in Moscow and Potlatch. Habitat builds home for low income families in need of decent, affordable housing in Latah and Whitman County. Habitat homeowner must save a down payment, help build the home, and will purchase the home from Habitat with a zero-interest mortgage that is set based on the cost to build the home, and with the homeowners income in mind. Other criteria include: challenges with their current housing; have lived or worked in Latah or Whitman County for at least a year; and meet Habitat income guidelines. Habitat verifies employment, sources of income, and conducts interviews and site visits. As part of the program, Habitat homeowners will learn about budgeting, home repair, and maintenance before the home sale is complete.
Palouse Habitat for Humanity is the local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. It was established in 1992 and has built homes in Albion, Colfax, Pullman, Moscow, Genesee, Palouse and Uniontown.
