Name: How the Vote was Won: Women's Suffrage in the U.S. West
    Date: January 28, 2020
    Time: 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM PST
    Event Description:
By the end of 1914 almost every state and territory in the West had enfranchised its female citizens, while few women in the East voted until after the ratification of the 19th Amendment (1920). Join Rebecca Mead, associate professor of history at Northern Michigan University, to learn about the sophisticated activism of western women and many factors that led to the vote being won in the West. The Seeking Suffrage Lecture Series is a year-long commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th amendment, granting women the right to vote. Future events focusing on the women's suffrage in Idaho and Latah County will be held throughout 2020. The series is hosted by the Latah County Historical Society, Moscow League of Women’s Voters, U of I’s College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences, Honors Program and Women’s Center, with support from the Idaho Humanities Council.
