Come to the Prichard Art Gallery each Thursday from 3:45 - 5:00 pm for our After School Art Class for children in 1st - 6th grade. Below is a list of upcoming classes. The gallery provides all of the supplies needed, and the breakdown in cost is only $5/day. Punch cards need to be purchased in order to take the class, and they are available at the gallery's front desk.
Classes are taught by local artist Jennifer Rod, who has many years experience teaching art to children. She has been teaching our After School Art Program for almost a year.
Reminder, please have your child check in at the gallery's front desk each week to mark off a day on their punch card.
Repetition, Repetition, Repetition
Draw a shape, cut it out, repeat. We will make several cardboard shapes inspired by nature, then assemble them into a wildly surprising three dimensional sculpture!
Supplies being used: Cardboard, scissors, maybe even paint if we have time
The Many Faces of Clay
Has anyone ever told you not to make that face because “your face might freeze!”? Well it’s just not true. Faces are very pliable, and loaded with expression! We will experiment with clay and facial expressions by molding clay to match our many moods.
Supplies being used: Mirrors, clay, smooth boards or plates, paper & pencils
Edward Munch used Expressionist painting to convey strong emotions that rocked his world. We will make our own versions of “The Scream” experiencing strong colors and strong brush marks, then we will soften that emotion by changing the colors and marks.
